It seems as though everytime I am swamped busy, that is when I want to do projects more than ever. I started reupholstering a chair on tuesday and it is turning out much better than expected. I didn't buy super expensive material or chair since this is my first upholstering job, but i still think it is going to turn out amazing. I got the new Pottery Barn catalog yesterday, it has some gorgeous things in it. It is a very earthy and neutral catalog, but I have been loving it...it makes me crave light and airy rooms. here are some beautiful pillows:

long time...

I was thinking about not blogging anymore...but my mom likes looking at my blog, even if I don't have anything important to say...so I will continue!

I started nursing school on January 11th, and I am loving it!! I have learned so many cool things like: heart and lung sounds, wound irrigation and dressing, foley (indwelling) catheters, physical assessments, and much more!! I have my first clinical at UVRMC on Saturday! I will get to practice up on my skills. I am super nervous, but mostly because i have to be there by 0530 and I am not good at waking up early!! I even had class one time this week at 0800 and it was hard...i will definitely need some caffeine that day!! I love the people that are in my class...we are split into groups, which works really well because you get to know them really well and it is good to have 9 other people to feel comfortable studying with.

I bought some lovely fabric to recover a chair this last weekend. I will take pictures when I am done recovering it; we shall see how it turns out!!

hopefully i will write again before a month passes!!

christmas is only 2 weeks away...i need more than 2 weeks to get ready, but i think we always feel that way!! Mother nature created a winter wonderland last night. It is definitely making the season! I had to work today and boots were the only thing i felt like wearing...i just feel like watching Home Alone and drinking a warm drink...mmmmmmm

Joshua just released his second full length album on itunes (available for digital download) yesterday!! He is currently at #1 on the singer/songwriter genre on itunes....YEA!!!!

Yesterday joshua and i began the master cleanse again. you know the one (lemons, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, smooth move tea, etc.)
I made it through one day without much hunger. I did feel slightly tired and irritable (especially when a drug rep brought pizza to our office for lunch, and i could smell it even on joshua when i went home, my mind was going crazy). I haven't have horrible cravings yet. I am sure that is to come later when everything i have eaten in 23 years is cleared out of my bowels.
we shall see.

i got these fabulous new overalls (lee brand) from a yard sale today on my lunch break (with the sweet camille, whom i love) for 25 cents!! Amazing yard sale i must say...i got some other finds that i will post about soon!!!

4th of july....

On the fourth of july we had a lovely day with the james gang.
Ash and scott came down from rexburg and justin and danielle made the trek from orem to spend the day in AF...

we had a picnic at rotary park. it was nice because we didn't have to spend the day in the sun because of the huge trees. joshua and justin bbq ed and we ate lovely chicken. after we played a little croquet.

it was so nice to spend some time with the family!! Joshua and i later went back to rotary to listen to the wind in the trees. We didn't watch fireworks because we were pretty tuckered from the long day at the park...so it was definitely nice just to lay in the grass and listen to the wind...with your favorite person :)

SPOKANE...
The drives have not been too long this tour, I must have needed a break because I hate driving. It is such a joy to join Joshua out on the road for the remainder of his tour...nothing makes me happier than spending time with him...I also discovered that I can read in the car, something I have never before been able to do. I am currently reading wrecking ball by christina spens, a little depressing, but it is making me appreciate life. Next up will be the virgin suicides...I love the movie so I can't wait to read the book, I am sure it will be better. I will keep you posted on the travels, much love...

It's been a whole week since I blogged...I can't believe it...but I am working on moving into the new house...me (along with a few nice people) cleaned the house yesterday and it is now move in ready...there are still a few small things to do, but I will do it later :)

joshua recently released his record in japan under manhattan records/lexington co.

they did completely new artwork and there is even japanese writing on the record...he just got back from doing a promotional "tour"
he played at an apple store in Shibuya and at Tower records as well as had autograph signings and such...
i wanted to take pics of the record so that i would never forget it...
on the back it reads...

"All rights of the manufacture and of the owner of the records work reserved. Unauthorized copying, public performance, renting and making transmittable of this record prohibited, biotch.

that is all i have to say
i guess that they dared put it because they figured not many people could read it anyways...we didn't know anything about the record until joshua went to japan. he showed me promptly after getting home and i could not stop laughing...

pretty cool to have some japanese imports under the belt.

I have nothing but great things to say about The Sweet Tooth Fairy in provo...

First:
They closed at 7 pm but I called and they let me come and they graciously made me some amazing cupcakes.

Second:
They gave me a cake bite which...by the way...was AMAZING!!

Third:
The cupcakes were so adorable. I actually couldn't choose between the 4.

I got them for joshua and his practicing band...and me of course!! I got carrot cake, german chocolate cake (mine), lemon, and chocolate with peanut butter frosting and reeses pb cup on top! I tried all of them of course and they were all amazing!! I even loved the cute package that they put them in. The whole experience was great and I can't wait to cross a few more off my list

I made the tablerunner in my last post with the cutest new fabric called wonderland by momo for moda. It turned out adorable. What i love most about it is that it has scissors in it...representing my love of sewing. It just makes me smile to look at it!! I am still working on the binding (by the way my mom and i went to an amazing binding class last saturday at corn wagon quilt co. and we learned how to bias bind like pros :) ) But i did use my favorite fabric from the line...the pink scissor fabric. I have been making so many bags that it was so nice to take a break and sew something for myself. It was really fun quilting it with a regular machine and quilting foot. It will look great in my new kitchen :)

lately i feel like i live at work...i recently went from working part time to working full time!! Since I am always here i felt it would be appropriate to get some pics in the scrubs.

On another note, joshua and i have been spending a lot of time together lately. We are not anticipating the upcoming tour...bummer!

spring has....not sprung

sunday was such a wonderful day...the first day of march and it couldn't have been warmer.

joshua and i decided to eat bagels and chomp grapes as we laid on the trampoline in the backyard like two little kids. it was marvelous. we then took quite a long walk around provo adoring all the beautiful homes that the city has. it was great. if only we could pick up some of those homes, completely restored of course, and move them to a greater place...not that provo isn't great, but it has many flaws...like all the other houses that have been changed into 12-plexes and trashed by students...

i can't wait for spring; for just one day i could be super happy because the sun drenched my body. hopefully soon we will see mr sunshine again.

we are going to try this recipe on friday:

DINNER IN A PUMPKIN
Printed from COOKS.COM

2 med. size New Zealand pumpkins
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 round onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
Minced garlic
1 1/2 lb. ground beef, turkey or chicken
1 lg. can sliced mushrooms
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tbsp. shoyu
2 tbsp. brown or raw sugar
1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, chopped
1 1/2 c. cooked rice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Wash pumpkins; cut a round hole on top of each pumpkin and use as a cover while baking. Remove seeds and pulp. Set pumpkins aside.
Saute onion, celery and garlic in oil; add ground meat and brown well. Drain excess fat. Add mushrooms, soup, shoyu and sugar. Simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add water chestnuts and cooked rice. Spoon half of mixture in one pumpkin shell and the other half in second pumpkin shell. Place on baking sheet and bake 1 hour or until pumpkin meat is fork tender. Remove and serve hot, scooping out filling as well as pumpkin meat.

1. I have never been stung by a bee...i still hate them, but i hate yet to have a reason.
2. I really hate hamburger. my parents say that when i was little i found a blue piece of the burg and flipped out. their explanation was that the ink that they package the meat with can sometimes get in the meat...i still to this day do not eat hamburger.
3. I have never in my life been toilet papering. lame. i know.
4. I used to sleepwalk and talk when i was younger. i probably still do. after sleepovers with friends we would always laugh at the crazy things i said.
5. I always said that i would be the last of my friends to get married. i thought i would be 30! guess that didn't happen...found the love of my life too quickly.

can't believe it has been almost a month since i have posted. I hate those kind of people (whom i love to follow) who don't update their blogs more often...and i am now one of them!! ahhh!! life has been good and crazy...i try to balance school with a day off on saturday...my saturdays have consisted of going up to gardner village to see the witches with my mom and stacie (her best friend), going to sundance for a good shopping trip with the jessie and our boys and seeing ashley edgar from chicago in salt lake, eating at red iguana (which by the way gave me the flu!!) and many other things....saturdays are my saving grace. I got some new specs...i am driving in the pic, so i look a little frightened, i suppose i always feel that way while driving. if anyone wants to entertain me on a saturday i would love to hear from you!! love love love

I started school on august 27, but just yesterday added 2 more classes...so i am currently overloaded. My work dropped me off of my insurance, so i figured that the best idea would be to take full time school...so that is what i am doing. I am actually finishing all of my nursing prerequisties. so it is pretty exciting. I may be lacking on the blog area in the next couple of months...but know i am thinking of all my blog friends...as well as all of the microbes i can think of!!

I couldn't do the master cleanse...here it is all laid out...

I had to work on labor day...it was a horrible day to say the least plus i was very ornery from not eating. I also got very sick from the cayenne and was sweating profusely. I could barely check in my patients let alone stand to do anything to them. the girls ate at kneaders and since it was a rainy day they got the best smelling soup!! it was horrible. (i am obviously a slave to food). i went to clay's birthday party after work and was so tired that i just laid on the couch while everyone ate...but they also ate something very good!! Bryan is a master chef and he made chicken noodle soup. i caved i couldn't not eat something so wonderful. joshua was pretty upset, but i talked him out of it (he can't be mad at me) and he also caved. i definitely don't think i am cut out for a ten day cleanse even though i would like to be. i really wanted to do it, but after not eating food for one day, i really didn't want to do it. good luck (seriously) to anyone who thinks they can do it. troopers!!

Tomorrow we shall start the master cleanse. we will start tonight by taking senna leaf laxative tea...a little scared, but also very excited to get healthy and balanced!! if anyone has any comments or suggestions please leave them for us!! wish us luck!!

i have a new favorite body "lotion"....just mix 100% grapeseed oil and lavender pure esential oil (just a couple of drops). I have even been putting this on my face, and love it!!!

I love love love lavender...lavender oil, soap, gum, you name it!! It is also known for its sleepy powers. I spray this on my sheets before bed.

recipe for loveliness:
half teaspoon lavender essential oil
3-5 drops peppermint, spearmint, or rosemary essential oil (optional)
1 oz vodka
1 and 1/2 cups of distilled water (from the drug store)

Sterilize a glass container (a big pasta sauce jar would work well) pouring some boiling water into it and leaving it for a few minutes then:
Mix the essential oils and booze together in the jar, shaking them like it ain't no thang!!
Add the water and shake some more

when you're ready to use it you can either decant it into a plastic spray bottle or (more satisfyingly) flick it onto your linens with your fingers. The mixture will cloud over time and eventually seperate, hence the slightly smaller batch size.

this is a new recipe that joshua and i tried tonight. we biked to good earth to get the ingredients and then mixed it up...it turned out great!! Joshua has really been on a health kick lately and we have been trying not to eat any sugar! Here is the recipe for the granola...

10 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 c wheat germ
1/2 c milled flax seed
1/2 lb unsweetened dried shredded coconut
1 c sesame seeds
1 1/2 c slivered almonds
1 1/2 c chopped pecans (we used pumpkin seeds)
1 1/2 c water
3/4 c olive oil
1 c brown sugar
1/2 honey (we used agave)
1/2 c sorghum (a type of molasses, less sweet)
1 1/2 t salt
2 t cinnamon
1 T vanilla
2 c dried fruit (we used craisins)

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
2. combine oats, wheat germ, flax, coconut, sesame seeds and nuts, mixing well
3. In a saucepan combine brown sugar, water, oil, honey, sorghum, salt, and cinnamon
4. Heat throughly, Don't boil
5. Pour syrup over dry ingredients
6. Spread on a jelly roll pan
7. Bake 20-30 min
8. cool and add fruit
9. serve in an airtight container for up to six months and enjoy!!
